Position Overview: We are seeking a strategic and results-oriented Director of Communications/Marketing responsible for crafting and executing a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that elevates our brand, fosters member engagement, and achieves our association's goals. The ideal candidate will lead all marketing and communications initiatives, ensuring consistent branding and maintaining a positive image within the industry and among stakeholders.

Essential Responsibilities:

Lead Strategic Marketing and Communications:

  • Develop and implement an annual comprehensive marketing and communications plan aligned with organizational goals.
  • Ensure consistent branding across all channels, monitoring brand sentiment and reputation.
  • Manage the annual department budget to maximize ROI.

Lead External Communications:

  • Plan and execute industry awareness/marketing campaigns.
  • Develop and implement external communication strategies to keep members and stakeholders informed.
  • Lead all communications in support of the association's policy and government affairs efforts.
  • Develop and pitch stories to media to generate interviews in support of organizational goals.

Oversee Digital Marketing and Branding:

  • Develop and oversee strategy and content for the organization's website, digital channels, and social media.
  • Leverage data and analytics to ensure campaigns meet goals and enhance brand presence and engagement.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and innovations to improve marketing and communications efforts.

Enhance Member Engagement and Event Promotion:

  • Create a cohesive plan to brand the organization and its programs and services.
  • Increase member engagement by informing members about priorities, programs, and services.
  • Build awareness and drive attendance to meetings and events.

Manage Stakeholder Relationships and External Vendors:

  • Foster long-term relationships with key stakeholders, including members, trade press, media influencers, and social media communities.
  • Cultivate and manage outside vendor relationships, ensuring goal attainment, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Additional Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Writing and editing as needed.
  • Assist with event logistics and AV as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position manages two full-time employees.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • 10 years in association management is preferable.
  • Experience leading and managing communications and marketing campaigns.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and work with different viewpoints to build consensus.
  • Forward-thinking and creative with a strong desire to continuously improve.
  • Excellent collaborative skills working in a high-pressure environment.
  • Exceptional people skills with superior oral and written communication abilities.
  • Results-oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines.
  • Self-sufficient computer/technology skills.
