In 2001, members of the 3Sigma team completed implementation of “WINS,” a functionally rich and robust, state-of-the-art, centralized system for Maryland’s WIC Program. This system allowed Maryland’s WIC community to become virtually paperless, giving staff members more time to interact with participants and to provide much needed nutritional counseling. Since implementation, Maryland’s participation increased by almost 10% with no increase of staff!

Today , the 3Sigma team continues to help Maryland move into the lead with the latest technology and most functional web-based WIC automation system available. On December 22, 2004 , Maryland went operational with the Clinic and Administrative modules of the “WOW” system! “WOW” (WIC On the Web) is a browser-based system that has replaced Maryland’s centralized WINS system by providing state-of-the-art web-based access using any computer having Internet Explorer 5.5 access. The “WOW” system maintains the same rich functionality found in the WINS system, but contains additional features such as quick-access participant and family details, easily updateable Health History questions and Risk rules, and extensive data collection and reporting tools .
