Based in Bethesda, Maryland, and with an office in Nairobi, Kenya, Burness Communications has been providing public relations support to nonprofit organizations since 1986. In doing so, we take as a given that sound strategy and tactical successes such as media coverage, dynamic publications, web-based social media, and meetings with policymakers – though crucial – are ultimately only means to an end. Our goal, our end, mirroring that of the nonprofits we support, is effecting social change – making an impact.

To that end, we are very proud to have been selected -- three times consecutively -- as one of Washingtonian Magazine’s Great Places to Work in the DC area. We are one of only nine organizations to have been recognized all three times over the past six years.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower people with information that can be used to improve the human condition and advance social change in the United States and around the world. We do so recognizing that caring for others starts with modeling this in our own company.
