MTCI is a Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB) that has been Maximizing Human Potential® since 1999. MTCI has broad capabilities in human capital management and training support and delivery, supported by a strong program management approach. MTCI, a diverse company, manages government contracts of various size and complexity, with associates dispersed geographically to meet our clients' needs. The company has deep military roots and is comprised of more than 73% military veterans, 27% combat veterans, 38% disabled veterans, 18% spouses of military veterans, and 59% of our associates completed full military careers.

In December 1999, MTCI was founded by retired Army Sergeant Major Sam Kanouse who served in the Army National Guard. Sam entered the service as a member of the United States Army after graduating from Killeen High School in 1975. He served his country faithfully as a noncommissioned officer for 25 years. He retired in 2000 as the Sergeant Major of the Recruiting and Retention Division at the National Guard Bureau in Washington, D.C. During his military career he touched many people's lives through his sterling and caring leadership as a non-commissioned officer. After retiring from the Army, Sam founded Management Training Consultants, Inc., a consulting company with deep roots in the National Guard. As a retired US Army Non-Commission Officer, Sam knew in his heart that he wanted to continue serving the soldiers and the organization that had g him so much throughout his military career. Sam was a dreamer, but more importantly, he put his energy and talents behind his visions making them a reality.

Sam wrote a popular book titled "Strength Maintenance Philosophy" which details how to be a successful recruiter in the military. It provides step by step guidance, worksheets, and invaluable tips on the important job of recruiting and retaining a strong Army National Guard workforce. Sam was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in June of 2008 and in October 2009 he lost his battle, but his legacy lives on at the Army National Guard. Each year, a recruiter is selected and awarded the 'Sam Kanouse Recruiter of the Year' award.

MTCI is now led by Sam's wife, Dalena Kanouse. Prior to taking over the helm at MTCI, Dalena served in several areas within the Department of the Army Public Affairs which culminated in serving as the Community Relations Chief for the III Corps Headquarters and Fort Hood Public Affairs Office, Fort Hood, Texas. MTCI continues to enjoy success in the areas that Sam started – human capital, training support and delivery – with emphasis on providing important recruiting and retention support and training administration to its primary customer, the Army National Guard. Overseeing all this important work are a team of seasoned Program Managers providing invaluable program management support in many areas of expertise.
