Mission

The mission of the Air Force Retired Officers Community is to develop and operate a first-class retirement community for the benefit of retired military officers, their spouses and widowed spouses. The community shall provide its residents with housing facilities and services specially designed to enhance their health, security, happiness and usefulness in longer living. The Community may also provide select charitable services to the external community without compromising its fiduciary responsibility to its members.

History

Falcons Landing began, in 1984, as the dream of a group of retired officers who formed the Air Force Retired Officers Community (AFROC) who oversaw the design, financing and construction of the campus. Their goal was to build the premier retirement community in the United States. The original board visited military and civilian retirement communities across the country to determine what they needed to do in fulfilling their vision of excellence in retirement living. Through their investigation, Falcons Landing was designed from the beginning with:
  • Larger apartments
  • Larger homesites
  • Covered parking
  • First-class dining
  • Junior Olympic-size swimming pool
Falcons Landing opened officially in 1996 and immediately was filled to capacity with many on a waiting list. In addition to apartments and home sites, Falcons Landing also operates The Johnson Center, a 60 bed nursing facility and 29 units of assisted living. West Falls Center is the new 42 apartment Assisted Living facility designed on the social model most desired by today’s clientele.
