Position Highlights

A candidate in this position will lead and facilitate experimental youth programming including high and low ropes course activities, outdoor adventures, and Wilderness First Responder programming.

Duties & Responsibilities

Ropes Course

  • Work with staff and volunteers to assure safe and effective programming on 4-H Ropes Course
  • Lead training days for community members and 4-H youth *Create programs that teach life and leadership skills
  • Maintain safety records and inspections of 4-H Ropes Course
  • Create cost recovery structure to increase program revenue.

Outdoor Education

  • Lead outdoor trips for school groups, 4-H groups and community members this could include rock climbing, hiking and caving.
  • Recruit and train youth and adult volunteers to assist with these programming
  • Maintain equipment, safety and risk management protocols
  • Develop pricing structure to increase programmatic income and cost

Wilderness First Responder

  • Create classes for public for Wilderness First Responder and Wilderness First Aide programming
  • Develop volunteers to assist with these programs.
  • Create a 4-H Outdoor Education Safety course so all 4-H youth, staff, volunteers can take a basic outdoor first aide course to assist with programmatic safety

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to handle groups of youth in the outdoors
  • Knowledge of Leave No Trace Code of Ethics
  • Knowledge of facilitating ropes course programming
  • Skill in public speaking and presenting information to large groups.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • At least 6 months of experience required.
  • Ropes Course Level I Certification or higher within 60 days of hire.
  • Wilderness First Responder or higher within 60 days of hire.
  • CPR and First Aid certified within 60 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 year of relevant experience is preferred.
