Job Location: Herndon, VA

About the Position:

This position is a highly technical role, providing post-sales on-site support of Junipers Network Products within the MX/M/PTX/T-Series of products at a customer's certification lab location. The Resident Engineer will be required to develop and maintain an expertise on the products deployed within the Customers network and certification processes. This is a full-time position on-site at the customer location and requires a strong knowledge and experience with routing protocols.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages and Executes Lab certification for new Network Technologies introduced into customer production network.
  • Hold design and information gathering workshops with the customer to understand the customer's existing network design and technical requirements.
  • Understand the customer's organizational structure and become familiar with the customer's network implementation and support processes and procedures.
  • Collaborates with Juniper resources internally to help test and verify patches to operating software and to ensure that they are implemented and functioning correctly in the live network.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and network problems and to open and track JTAC cases through to problem resolution.
  • Prepares SIRT assessment for review by account team and customer
  • Leads technology workshops with the customer to discuss equipment and network problems, and to provide case status updates, including the reasons for any problems encountered and the workarounds and/or solutions that are being tried.
  • Guides the customer's design, implementation, and support personnel to configure and operate the Juniper Networks products.
  • Assist the customer to develop Network Operating and Equipment Operating Procedures (for instance, upgrade MOP's).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Required routing experience with service provider routing protocols - MPLS, RSVP and BGP
  • Detailed technical experience in the design, installation and operation high-end IP routers and Ethernet switches
  • Detailed understanding of the protocols surrounding IP service provider networks
  • Strong Interpersonal skills and a team player mentality
  • Excellent oral and written skills required
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on a large-scale Service Provider network desired
  • Previous JUNOS experience desired
  • Hands on experience with Juniper routers as well as test equipment (i.e. Agilent, Ixia, etc) strongly preferred
  • B.S. in electrical engineering, computer science or similar degree desired
  • 5-7 years related work experience

Minimum Salary: $118,976.00

Maximum Salary:$171,028.00

The pay range for this position is expected to be between $118,976.00 and $171,028.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Juniper's pay range data is provided in accordance with local state pay transparency regulations. Juniper may post different minimum wage ranges for permanent residency petitions pursuant to US Department of Labor requirements.
