About the Department:

The Hylton Performing Arts Center opened in May 2010, is the region's first state-of-the-art performing arts center. The partnership with Prince William County, the City of Manassas and George Mason University has created a project that educates, entertains and enriches the lives of our citizens. The center will provide performance space for local community arts groups, as well as national and international tours, which include everything from Beethoven to Bluegrass (and everything in between). Located on the Prince William campus of George Mason University in Manassas, the center has two performance spaces - 1166-seat Merchant Hall and the 300-flexible seat Gregory Family Theatre. In addition, the 9000 square foot Didlake Grand Foyer provides event space in western PW County for receptions up to 600 people and seated dinners for nearly 300.

About the Position:

The Ticket Office Supervisor supervises certain aspects of ticket office operations within established guidelines and policies. This includes subscriptions, rentals, creating and maintaining databases for both subscriptions and historical data. This position is also helps maintain the effective and efficient operation of the ticket office, both in its daily activity and with the specific operations required at performance times. This also includes the generation of all necessary reports, and the accurate and timely handling of all funds collected in the ticket office.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall supervisory responsibility for event and day to day operations of the ticket office;
  • Coordinates with the Ticket Office Manager on the scheduling of staff and oversees the staff during operating hours;
  • Handles patron complaints concerning ticketing;
  • Supervises wage employees in ticket selling operations and training;
  • Primary ticket office contact for all RAP (Resident Arts Partners); Secondary ticket office contact for rental clients (after Ticket Office Manager);
  • Creates events in the ticketing system, adding price codes or rescaling of the seating chart with the ticketing system provider and/or modifying events within the ticketing system as needed by the rental client, prints blocks of tickets for rental clients, attends meetings with rental clients as needed, oversees the ticket office during rental events, and ensures that the ticket sellers are informed of any new rental events and their special requirements;
  • Assists in the creation and maintaining of subscription database and historical database: creates subscription database for each season, including RAPs, maintaining and updating it, and generates reports from the database;
  • Pulls mailing lists as requested from Marketing or other departments, and generates reports as needed;
  • Primary contact with RAPs, rental clients and Hylton Presents performers to coordinate the needs of merchandise sales. Maintains accurate records of sales and timely deposits; and
  • Assists in overseeing the daily operations of the Ticket Office, particularly in the absence of the Ticket Office Manager.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Considerable ticketing experience, with some experience in a leadership role;
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience;
  • Experience in a higher education setting;
  • Working knowledge of computerized ticketing and reporting systems and Windows-based programs, particularly Microsoft Excel and Access;
  • Proven supervisory skills in leading a staff in a ticket operation; and
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and exhibit exemplary customer service.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
