Job Description

The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Lease Analyst to support a state government customer in Virginia. Note: Position may be located in either Northern, VA or Richmond, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Lease Administration:
    • Maintain and update lease databases and systems.
    • Review lease agreements and abstract key terms and conditions.
    • Track lease expirations, renewals, and terminations.
    • Monitor rent payments, escalations, and adjustments.
    • Prepare lease summaries, reports, and analyses.
  • Lease Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with lease terms and conditions.
    • Monitor lease compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Review and analyze lease-related financials.
  • Lease Negotiation Support:
    • Assist in lease negotiations and renewals.
    • Provide lease analysis and recommendations.
    • Support lease negotiations with landlords and tenants.
  • Lease Auditing:
    • Conduct lease audits and reconciliations.
    • Identify and resolve discrepancies in lease terms and payments.
    • Ensure accuracy in lease-related financials.
  • Documentation Management:
    • Maintain lease documents, files, and records.
    • Organize and manage lease documentation for easy retrieval.
    • Ensure proper documentation of lease-related transactions.
  • Tenant and Landlord Relations:
    • Serve as a point of contact for tenants and landlords.
    • Address lease-related inquiries and issues.
    • Coordinate lease-related communications.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Prepare lease-related reports and analyses.
    • Analyze lease data for trends and insights.
    • Provide recommendations for lease optimization and cost savings.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work collaboratively with internal teams and stakeholders.
    • Coordinate with legal, finance, and property management teams.
    • Provide lease-related support to other departments as needed.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Knowledge:
    • Stay informed about lease accounting standards and regulations.
    • Ensure compliance with lease accounting standards and guidelines.
    • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in lease management.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
    • Implement best practices in lease administration and management.
    • Participate in training and professional development activities.


Required Experience & Skills
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in lease administration or lease analysis.
    • Experience with lease management software or systems.
    • Experience in real estate or property management.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to interpret lease agreements and understand lease terms and conditions.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis.
    • Strong communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
    • Knowledge of real estate and lease terminology and concepts.

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Lease work experience in a government or public sector setting.
  • Knowledge of lease accounting standards such as FASB ASC 842 or IFRS 16 may be beneficial.
  • Experience with lease abstraction and summarization.
  • Familiarity with lease auditing and reconciliation processes.
  • Understanding of lease financials and rent calculations.
  • Experience in conducting lease audits and lease compliance reviews.
  • Certifications such as Certified Lease & Title Analyst (CLTA) or Certified Lease Professional (CLP) may be preferred or required.

Required Education

  • A bachelor's degree in business, finance, real estate, or a related field.
  • A master's degree may be preferred.
