Summary:

The Safety Specialist monitors workplace activities to promote and ensure employee compliance with applicable safety regulations.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems,
  • Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards,
  • Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates,
  • Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations,
  • Inspects safety equipment; recommends replacements,
  • Reviews accidents and incidents reported by employees and visitors to the facility,
  • Analyze incident data to identify trends in injuries, illnesses, accidents, or other hazards,
  • Provide advice and counseling for all compliance regulations,
  • May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends,
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or related field required,
  • 2-4 years of experience in safety on commercial construction projects,
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record,
  • Extensive knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards,
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  • Ability to conduct training,
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) Certification designation is required,
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail,
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software,
  • COVID-19 vaccination is highly recommended,
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug & alcohol screening.
