What You'll do:

As the Assistant Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the different Accounting functions, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, General Ledger, and other special projects. Additionally, the Assistant Controller will be the technical expert in both accounting standards (CAS, FAR, GAAP) and the financial system (Deltek Costpoint currently), where the individual be the primary point of contact for resolving issues/questions and training others on the team as needed.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage a team of 5-8 resources, across the different accounting functions, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and General Ledger

  • Comply with all regulations related to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and be a subject matter expert (SME) in these areas

  • Assist with the month-end and year-end close process

  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting

  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

  • Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results

  • Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements

  • Coordinating activities of external auditors

  • Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes

  • Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed

  • Developing and monitoring business performance metrics

  • Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance

  • Assist with Hiring, training, and retaining skilled accounting staff

  • Assist with all audits including DCAA, Annual Financial Statements

  • Assist with internal rates/pools and reconciliation

    Required Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting,Finance, or a closely related field

    • 7-10+ years of experience inAccounting and Finance

    • Government contracting experience, including experience with the FAR and CAS (5+ years)

    • Advanced Costpoint experience (5+ years)

    • Must be local to the DC Metro area

    • Must be on-site 1 day / week at a minimum

    Preferred Experience:

    • Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) experience

    • CPA

    • Big 4 experience

    The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted forany applicable geographicdifferential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Groundswell, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

    $101,715.00 - $215,436.00
