Job Description

The Sr. Director of Accounting will oversee the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of the company's accounting services, supporting and promoting profitable goals and objectives.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, and financial regulations.
  • Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes.
  • Prepare periodic financial statements for finance to be able to perform financial analysis and reporting.
  • Support outside tax consultant with periodic tax filing requirements for the corporation and ownership.
  • Manage cash flow, develop short-term and long-term cash flow forecasts, prepare regular cash flow reporting, and optimize cash management strategies.
  • In partnership with finance, manage relationships with external partners, such as auditors, banks, and other financial institutions.
  • Manage payroll, commissions, and benefits administration to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Enter forecasted hours into Unanet.
  • Manage employee expense reports through collection of travel invoices, approval of expenses in line with government regulations (if applicable) and manage reimbursement to employees.
  • Maintain knowledge of developments and trends in accounting, including technological advances.
  • Manage Accounts Payable function including vendor invoice processing, vendor payment, and Accounts Payable Aging monitoring and reporting.
  • Manage Accounts Receivable function including generating customer invoices as well as Accounts Receivable Aging monitoring and reporting.
  • Implement systems, policies, and process enhancements to improve the quality and efficiency of accounting products and services and assess and evaluate existing methods and functions.
  • Participate in special projects and activities as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting best practices and requirements with a proven ability to provide sound and ethical counsel to Executive Leadership.
  • Thorough understanding of and personal involvement with systems and methodologies of accounting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required; MBA preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant status highly desired.
  • At least ten years of experience in the accounting function of a company required.
  • Must have at least a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; must be an active CPA candidate or possess an active CPA license.
  • Government Contract Experience preferred.
  • A master's degree in accounting or finance or an MBA are preferred.
