Orrick seeks an attorney with extensive Supreme Court and appellate litigation experience to join the firm's Supreme Court and Appellate (SCA) Group as Supreme Court Counsel. The core purpose of the position is to support and continue to build Orrick's Supreme Court practice. The Counsel's responsibilities will be focused on Supreme Court litigation. They include: (1) working in close collaboration with partners in the Group to supervise, draft, and edit certiorari and merits stage briefing; (2) developing and executing strategic initiatives to continue the expansion of the SCA Group's presence before the Court; and (3) managing and developing associates in the SCA Group regarding Supreme Court matters.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a former Supreme Court and/or federal court of appeals clerk with a minimum of 7 years of experience (preferably 10 years or more) in appellate litigation, including extensive experience in the Supreme Court. The position requires superb writing, oral communication, and management skills. A significant portion of the job will involve developing and supporting client relationships, and so interpersonal skills and an entrepreneurial bent are essential. The position can be located at any of Orrick's offices, but Washington, DC is preferred. A flexible or reduced-time schedule will be considered.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is between $345,000 and $430,000.

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
