The Associate Vice President is responsible for the efficient operations of ambulatory services. Ambulatory services include all free-standing clinics, hospital-based clinics, other ambulatory services such as sleep lab and the oversight and coordination of the services within large, multi-specialty regional ambulatory medical office buildings.
Provides leadership and oversight of ambulatory services with emphasis on efficient operations, provider clinic workflows, provider clinic scheduling templates, implementation of standardized practices, implementation of best practices and the ongoing mentoring and development of the practice administrative team. The AVP leads the integration of modern clinic practice in terms of the implementation of standardized clinic templates and streamlining of scheduling processes to facilitate both patient online self-scheduling and clinic, inpatient and emergency department staff online scheduling of clinic appointments. Closely collaborates with the VP Ambulatory Operations, CMO and CEO to support the design and implementation of effective physician and advanced practice provider compensation plans.
The AVP directly supervises several ambulatory directors and is responsible for the overall operation of outpatient clinics, clinic call centers and other ambulatory care support operations. Collaborates closely with the Director of Patient Financial Services (professional component) with respect to the registration function in the clinics. Collaborates closely with the Directors of Lab and Imaging Services to ensure smooth outpatient operations. Works in collaboration with inpatient leadership to integrate services and achieve outcomes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Master's Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Five years or more experience in a leadership role in a health care setting.

1. Supports effective collaboration between clinical departments and divisions to ensure an integrated approach to providing services and fulfilling the organization's clinical and quality goals and objectives.

2. Implements modern clinic scheduling processes reflective of a large, growth-oriented practice plan including centralized call center, standardized clinic schedule templates by specialty, online patient self-scheduling, hospital and other clinic staff online clinic appointment scheduling, etc.

3. Works with the management team and medical leadership serving as a resource to help improve access, reduce costs, enhance revenues, achieve effective utilization and quality goals and objectives, analyze and utilize information to develop and support management decisions.

4. Ensures a high level of clinic staff professionalism and provides training and tools to advance and maintain effective and efficient clinic operations.

5. Ensures a high level of patient satisfaction across ambulatory services.

6. Ensures a high level of staff and provider engagement across ambulatory services.

7. Supervisory Responsibilities: Directors, Managers, and Office Supervisors for outpatient clinic operations.

8. Establishes development and mentoring plans for clinic directors and managers and ensures effective succession plan is in place.

9. Supports the design and implementation of effective physician and advanced practice provider compensation plans that are objective, reasonable, market-based and meet fair market value review analyses.

10. In conjunction with the budget and financial review process, establish, maintain and manage benchmark-based operating budgets for ambulatory operations.

11. Works collaboratively with executive management and other staff, as directed, to generate thoughtful program development with the appropriate financial analysis to support new business opportunities and proposal development.

12. Supports ambulatory services revenue and expense forecasting; contributes to organization-wide forecasting through active partnership with the VP of Ambulatory and VP of Finance.

13. Supports key committees pertaining to ambulatory operations.

14. Ensures compliance with relevant licensing, regulatory, and accreditation requirements and provides oversight of policy and procedure reviews/revisions to Ambulatory Operations systems and processes.

15. In collaboration with other institutional leaders, the AVP is responsible for a comprehensive patient safety and clinical quality performance improvement plan for Ambulatory Services.

16. Other duties as assigned.
