We are seeking a nuclear physicist to contribute to tasks or projects that require a multi-disciplinary approach. As a member of our team, you will work with physicists, engineers, chemists and biologists to tackle our sponsor's most important problems.

As a Nuclear Engineer...

  • Your primary responsibility will be to conduct research and support efforts that contribute to our government sponsor's goals.
  • You will use your skills in nuclear physics, detector development, and radiation transport modeling to advance science toward the cutting edge in your field.
  • You will work with a diverse team that includes scientists of all backgrounds.
  • You will propose your own work and explore new technologies using the many resources available to you at APL!

Qualifications

You will meet our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have a Ph.D. in nuclear physics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Have 3+ years of experience working with radiation detection systems, including design and build of detector systems.
  • Experienced with national defense research.
  • Are able to obtain a Secret level security clearance.If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You 'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Possess strong Monte Carlo radiation transport skills
  • Have experience writing software incorporating using machine learning for data analysis
  • Have a demonstrated track record of writing white papers and proposals for internal and external funding
