Mechanical Engineer

The Opportunity:

What if you could use your engineering expertise to develop next-generation defense tools and technology? As an engineer, you'll engage in leading-edge munitions and subsystem technologies critical to national defense for advancing fuzing, warheads, propulsion, survivability, and munitions power technologies. We need your skills and expertise to develop creative solutions that directly impact the warfighter.

As a mechanical engineer, you'll develop and apply advanced systems methods, theories, and research techniques to munitions technology. You'll support development of plans and strategies to advance, develop, and transition munitions and energetics science and technology (S&T). You will coordinate with stakeholders and technical teams and manage munitions S&T investment. You will be part of a team to support the system design, development, safety, fabrication, and test and evaluation of rockets and their associated launchers.

You'll apply engineering physics, engineering mathematics, and materials science principles to support the design, analysis, manufacture, or maintenance of mechanical systems. You'll apply advanced consulting skills or extensive technical expertise, including full industry knowledge. You'll develop innovative solutions to complex problems, work without considerable direction, and mentor and supervise team members.

You Have:

  • 20+ years of experience in mechanical engineering and project management of system design, development, safety, fabrication, and test and evaluation of rockets and their associated launchers
  • Experience in rocket and launcher design and rocket propulsion to develop top level and detailed engineering designs, and develop optimized engineering solutions to complex problems
  • Experience in all phases of complex integrated system development
  • Experience directing, managing, and participating in the development of system specifications, evaluating design or technology options, complete system development, equipment testing, system architectures, and engineering documentation
  • Experience communicating verbally and in writing to senior level management
  • Ability to prepare complex reports, briefings, and presentations
  • Ability to perform duties independently with minimal oversight
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science or Engineering field

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience working with NAVAIR Program Management Offices and their associated project and business systems
  • Ability to think strategically and understand the tactical details of an issue
  • Ability to listen to and understand the different perspectives of an issue, and make appropriate decisions or recommendations
  • Ability to address multiple assignments concurrently and pay strict attention to detail

Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
