Why do we need you ?

The Purchasing Operations Manager is responsible for managing site purchases within the Siding US business. This includes responsibility for all local spend, raw material planning/ordering, and plant purchasing agents (direct reports). The purpose of this role is to maintain control of the local spend with correlated initiatives while implementing all required digital purchasing tools, ICRF rules, local bids/contracts, and inventory oversight responsibility. This position is key in professionalizing the purchasing function at the site level by acting as a team player with the rest of the central purchasing organization, the site buyers, and the operations/plant teams.

Site Purchasing & Compliance

  • Work with local Purchasing and operational teams as well as central stakeholders to help optimize operational costs for the business while identifying coverage gaps for categories.
  • Drive savings opportunities across the network both directly and through the development of the site purchasing team.
  • POC for escalation issues arising from sites, BU Vendors, and Plant Purchasing Agents.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of business priorities, policies, and initiatives to ensure CertainTeed/Saint-Gobain maintains continued operations and new projects are supported.
  • Lead the development of individual action plans and site portfolios for local spending based on analytical insights and risk mitigation.
  • Promote and train on the use of digital tools & platforms to support teams' workloads.
  • Identify and support cross-site synergy opportunities to leverage negotiations and contracts.
  • Foster site compliance regarding the North American Purchasing Policy [NAPP], Purchasing's Internal Controls Reference Framework [ICRF], Gift Policy, and Credit Card [P-Card] Policy.
  • Perform mock audits of CertainTeed locations.
  • Act as SME to promote and ensure continuous compliance improvement with SGNA digital tools, charters, trainings, etc.
    • RFQs, Oracle, Auctions, MRO, Agora, Supplier Charter, EcoVadis, QlikView, Medius, etc.
  • BU POC for ERP & digital tool enhancements.
  • Responsible for monitoring, supporting, and implementing improvements regarding invoice volume and GR/IR for BU.
  • Support process improvement and documentation.
  • Gatekeeper for vendor additions, changes, deletions (MDRs).
  • SME to support GRIR and Medius/Payment issue resolution.
  • Oversee raw material inventory optimization across facilities.
  • Identify and collaborate on sustainability projects for proper support.

-People & Training

  • Accountable for the performance of the site Purchasing personnel.
  • Develop standard new hire & ongoing skills improvement training for CertainTeed.
  • Assess employees, develop skillsets to promote growth of team's careers.
  • Coach, mentor, train team of buyers (direct reports and indirect when possible) and manage workload of the team as needed.
  • Required to hold meetings with Plant Management Teams and central BU teams with regular cadence.

Travel & Other

  • Regular visits to responsible Facilities to support the Purchasing and operational teams.
  • Buy-Techs & On-Site Trainings Purchasing and Technical Trainings (Kaizen, WCM).
  • Site audits & travel to facilities in case of emergencies or projects.
  • Lead & Participate in Multi-Level Meetings with necessary stakeholders (BU, Peers, Direct Reports, Manager, etc.).

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience.
  • 5 years' experience in Procurement, Leadership, or Project Management.
  • Self-starter, organized, analytical, and able to handle multiple projects.
