Senior Project Engineer

GAITHERSBURG, MD, UNITED STATES

Excelitas Noblelight is currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our Custom Engineering Team at our facility located in Gaithersburg, MD.

Your role and responsibilities:

  • Participates in the creation of project schedules and tracks key dates and progress of each project as it passes through key stages;
  • Responsible for establishing project inspection criteria, coordinating the review of project designs and ensuring the proper implementation of project elements;
  • Holds regular meetings to ensure that everything is going according to time and budget.;
  • Responds to customer/Sales concerns or requests throughout the project;
  • Interfaces with customers, suppliers, and engineering team colleagues on what is required to satisfy customer requirements and project timelines;
  • Conceptualizes equipment requirements and designs based on customer and sales input; prepares engineering specification and effectively communicates design and specification to sales, the customer, and Engineering;
  • Designs electro-mechanical equipment, including concept development, analysis, design layout, prototype development and testing;
  • Establishes and maintains vendor contacts necessary for procurement of parts and materials;
  • Supports engineering activities as required to maintain project schedules, such as electrical and mechanical design, PLC programming and troubleshooting;
  • Prepares calculations and quotes on the mechanical design of equipment;
  • Records project status in the appropriate document(s);

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or direct experience in project management and complex electromechanical systems design;
  • Minimum of 10 years design engineering experience;
  • Able to lift 30 lbs., install subsystems in process equipment, and make adjustments within equipment;
  • Able to apply engineering fundamentals to solve difficult electromechanical design problems;
  • Able to travel on short notice, 15%;
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks required;
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills;
  • Excellent customer relations skills;
  • Experienced in the use of MS Office Suite;
  • SAP knowledge preferred;

This position requires the use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
