General Summary of Position
Responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to population health, health disparities, social determinants of health and other factors that contribute to inequities. This role plays a critical part in informing decision-making processes, identifying trends, and contributing to the development of effective strategies to enhance health outcomes and support the overall mission of MedStar Family Choice. Through data-driven insights, you will contribute to the development of strategies and initiatives aimed at reducing health disparities and fostering a more equitable healthcare environment.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Retrieve and organize relevant data from various sources, including claims data, electronic health records, and other health plan databases.
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of population health data.
  • Collect and analyze health data to identify disparities in health outcomes among diverse populations.
  • Utilize statistical methods to analyze population health data and identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Generate regular reports, data visualization tools, and dashboards to communicate key findings to stakeholders, including leadership and healthcare providers.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) related to population health outcomes and health plan performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and refine metrics aligned with organizational goals.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of health equity programs and initiatives through data analysis.
  • Monitor key performance indicators to assess program impact.
  • Create visually compelling and easy-to-understand data visualization to communicate complex population health information effectively.
  • Present findings to internal teams and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Work closely with the Population Health and Health Equity Director, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and contribute to the development of data-driven strategies.


  • Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree Data Science, Statistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field required and
    • Master's degree Data Science, Statistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field preferred

    Experience

    • 3-4 years Data analysis, preferably in healthcare or health plan setting required

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Project management, problem resolution, strategic and tactical planning.
    • Ability to convey verbal and written information effectively.
    • Proven ability to prepare data in an organized, understandable format required.
