SUMMARY:
The primary purpose of this position is to assist Northwest Credit Union in living out our vision to be the lifetime financial partner for our member-owners. To achieve this goal, the position must deliver the highest quality service to internal and external members. A key component of service to our external members is to identify their financial needs and recommend an appropriate Northwest Credit Union solution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Meet or exceed the sales and service goals for the position.

* Knowledgeable of the Credit Union’s products and services.

* Process member transactions accurately such as cashing checks, accepting
deposits, credit card and loan/mortgage payments, processing withdrawals and cash advances, processing transfers between accounts, issues teller checks, cashier’s checks, money orders, and certified checks, issues and redeems US Savings Bonds, issues Gift Cards, Travel Money Cards and exchanges foreign checks and currency.

* Cross references/documents each transaction processed at teller window.

* Follow Credit Union policy on dual control and security.

* Responsible for balancing individual teller drawer. Balances cash and transactions daily. Finds and corrects errors as needed. Completes branch settlement and balances branch cash ledger at close of business daily.

* Follows vault procedures on how to buy and sell money through the vault teller and with other tellers. Assist with the counting of money shipments under dual control on day received.

* Operates equipment essential to providing service to members: On-line teller system posting directly to member accounts, cash counter machine, check scanner, internet computer, and using the PC to access member information.

* Knows policies and procedures, all products and services available through the Credit Union and Northwest Financial, and can communicate them to members using clear and correct grammar that is easily understood by members. Cross-sells all products and services and meets monthly referral goals.

* Works extended hours Monday Friday as needed and rotational Saturdays.

* May assist members with physically entering safe deposit boxes.

* May maintain coin machine maintenance and weekly coin shipment to Federal Reserve.

* May maintain ATM’s for adequate supply of cash in ATM’s. Performs daily maintenance on ATM’s.

* Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA). Attends training as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tellers report to the Branch Manager, Assistant Branch Manager or Teller Supervisor and have no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent and 0 1 years experience in a financial services environment. Previous cash handling experience is a plus.

SKILLS:
Computer applications: Word (intermediate proficiency) and Outlook, Excel (basic level), track-it and ability to use Internet. Ability to Keyboard, type and use the calculator, fax machine, check scanner and copier.

KNOWLEDGE:
Has knowledge of products and services available through the Credit Union and Northwest Financial.
Has a full understanding of the Staff Guidebook. Has a basic understanding of membership eligibility requirements.
Basic knowledge and understanding, as it relates to the branches, of credit union policies and procedures established by Northwest Federal Credit Union (NWFCU) Board of Directors and Management to comply with applicable rules and regulations, including:

* Bank Secrecy Act and CPI provisions (including Currency Transaction Reports (Form 104) and suspicious activity reporting);

* USA PATRIOT Act (including Customer Identification Program);

* Privacy regulations; and

* USA Patriot Act.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Greets all members, coworkers and vendors with a friendly and professional greeting. Verbal communication must be clear and understood in all situations. No writing is required for this position. Spanish speaking and signing is a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Teller must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide using a calculator, count large amounts of cash and coin, and be able to balance to cash at end of the day.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Decisions are made within established Credit Union guidelines. Tellers must exercise discretion and confidentiality with regards to member/employee information. Tellers must know when to transfer/refer member to manager. All pertinent information and/or suggested solutions must be given to Manager to assist in decision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Tellers must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time and be able to hear and talk. Frequently the employee is required to kneel, crouch and stoop. They must be able to carry cash drawer, which is heavy at times, in and out of the vault, twice daily. They may be required to lift up to 50 pound coin bags and assist members with carrying their safe deposit boxes and climb stepladder to reach them. They must be able to count cash and enter information into the PC/Teller system, and operate adding machine using hand/finger coordination. In addition, they must be able to answer the telephone(s). The employee may be required to operate coin machines and perform minor maintenance (release coin jams, replace tape or printer ribbon and clean hopper or coin rails).

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Teller station consists of small work area equipped with a telephone, PC/Teller system, printer, check swiper, adding machine and two cash drawers (top and bottom). They must also be able to operate the coin machine, check scanner and cash counting machine. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

All positions require a U.S. citizenship and a Federal Government Security Clearance. NWFCU will sponsor the clearance process for qualified applicants. All Applicants will be subject to a credit history check in order to determine eligibility with NWFCU.
